AwanMulan

Awanmulan

Writing this artical from "Sunrise" house in Awanmulan facing tropical jungle with only cover by house roof top and my front view is totally exposure to the nature. Sound of cricket, frog and lots of different jungle tone can be heard all night long, some flying insect and mosquito are my witnesses when I'm writing. In one corner is my wife and my son another is my maid who come along with us this trip.

What is this Awanmulan? Where is this place?

If you search in google you should able to get to their website easily and many blogger have blog about this place and how nice it was.
I have been diving for the pass 5years and recently not diving a lot due to family commitment and etc. I'm not a mountain and jungle person I do not like to go against gravity, however Awanmulan is different, I like it when I first step into it.

Located in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, around 90km from Kuala Lumpur (capital of Malaysia) around 1.5 hours drive by car. They is no public transport able to reach here private car or motorcycle is your only choices, this is the nearest paradise getaway from busy city life. To me is not very costly, however it depend on individual......

The Sunrise House

I took the decision to get the sunrise house as it can fit 4 person and it only cost me RM400/night, the facilities, the house, the environment is way better then any 5 star hotel in city infact is breath taking.
Various type of room offer from total privacy of 2 person room such as sasterawan and evensong to house that can accommodate 8 person such as Terata Bondo and Kesindang and mid size house such as Sunrise, all come with basic cooking facilities such as microwave, induction cooker, hot pot and etc.

Activities

So what can you do here? Nothing!!! Yes absolutely nothing!!! Just sit and relax, don't you agree that is wonderful? Well you can read, sleep, write and swim there is 2 swimming pool one for sun rise and one for sunset. If you wish to do some jungle tracking to near by water fall it can be arrange.

All in all a wonderful journey, with the most important people in my life, to a wonderful place! What a wonder full life.
100% will come here again, highly recommended 5 star rating, if to used a single line to describe this place I would said is simple, comfortable and peaceful.

@Singapore - July 2012

@Singapore - July 2012

I was attending Sales Force Administrator training on mid July 2012, since is train trip usually you will have more time vs working business trip.

During my 1 week stay in Singapore I visited few places among all the one I like the most is the newly open "Garden By the Bay" just opposite Marina Bay Sand. A nice garden to spend time walk around, relax and taking some photo.

My impression of Singapore is clean, safe, well organize and very commercialize city. Prior to this trip I have visited Universal studio, Sentosa Island and Marina Bay Sand from my previous trip. This time just want to take sometime walking around China Town and the newly open Garden By The Bay next to Marina Bay Sand.

Looking at the photo on this trip vs Mumbai Trip, I'm quite sure my photography skill have improved.... :)

Here is some of my photo

Not being Posting For Long Time

OMG!!!.... is been a long time before I post something on my own blog, is almost one article per year unbelievable!!! I have to work harder and write more.

I'm not going to start mentioning why I didn't post...just forget about it, lets focus on future.

Recently picking photography hobby, I never see my self into photography except underwater. As old people always said never said never !!! Well it all start when I bringing my sister to buy a DSLR a nikon d90.... after that day I'm in, I'm hock.

The New Hobby

It took me a long time on choosing a camera, many voices, many review read, ton of advice and etc. What important is to choose something you like, comfortable and good support from the manufacturer and also the range of lens available and etc.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3

Finally I'm not going to bulky DSLR like nikon D90, Canon 60D (within my budget). Instead I choose something few of my friend said is a big MISTAKE .... A Lumix DMC-G3, well is a small, light micro 43 system camera with interchangeable lens some people call DSLM which stand for Digital single lens Mirrorless.

I believe photography is not all about camera, I saw people using full frame DSLR which take a sharp but bad photo and I have seen nice photo taking from Canon G9. Defiantly you need a really good camera when your skill growth or you want to go to professional level. For me now... is about fun, portability and more fun

Some detail about G3 (G3 Review), Why G3.... simple, I like something small, light with but big on photo quality and lenses, good support from the company. Panasonic Malaysia have doing really good job to keep the community going and very complete set of lenses from super wide, wide till telephoto.

Here is some photo I took on my first few test shot with 14-42mm (f3.5-f5.6) kit lenses.

Mumbai Business Trip (Incredible India)

How? not bad? I brought the camera right before the trip. Better picture will come on next post.

After the trip I have brought a Lumix G 20mm f1.7 lenses before Singapore trip and also a day trip to  Malaysia Historical Town Melaka then a 14-140mm f4-f5.8 lens before I going to Hanoi.

More to come

Stay tune next post, next week and future post, Singapore, Melaka, Lumix photography work shop, Hanoi and many more.....

Kapalai Sipadan Dive Resort 4th - 7th August 2011

Good bye 2011 and welcome 2012!!!

My last post for 2011 is definitely going to be my last dive trip for 2011, this bring me back all the way to August 2011, destination Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort.
Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort (Kapalai in short) sit on the shallow sandbanks of the Ligitan Reef and just few minutes boat to reach Sipadan Island !!! consider one of the accommodation nearest to Sipadan.
Kapalai consist of 59 airy wooden water chalet offering either twin or triple sharing equip with attached batch room, hot shower, bath tub and a cleverly through-out balcony which offer total sought of privacy for lover of sunbathing and sun tanning.

As for dining Kapalai provide sumptuous meal serve in buffer style on a big wooden western sundeck which allow guest to enjoy tropical sunset while enjoying meal and drink. Resort facilities include diving, snorkeling and kayaking with gear and equipment for rental.

This trip we have a total of 7 divers some I have dive before and some are new to me. Access Kapalai resort from Kuala Lumpur is almost similar with my previous trip to Mataking Island you can click here to see my previous blog which require to take flight from KL to Tawau airport which you can travel with Air Asia or Malaysia airline (MAS) we took air asia due to it cheaper fair and require approximately 3 hours from KL International airport (LCCT) to reach Tawau airport, from Tawau there will be land transport arrange by Kapalai resort which took us one and a half hours to reach Semporna Jetty from there to the resort is about 45minute on speed boat.

Kapalai resort was build on top of a shallow sandy bay on lingitan reef so virtually there is no land; however there is some sandy bay that you can walk around during low tide. Overall the resort is very nice, windy, very comfortable but do not expect luxury, staff are friendly, food are nice and diving crew and dive facility are 5 star.

After a short briefing from hotel staff we went straight for our check out dive at Kapalai house reef, I have to mention specifically the house reef as you will have high chances of seeing flamboyant cuttlefish a small tiny colorful and rarely seeing cuttlefish you can read some write up here this is the first time I ever seen this kind of cuttlefish and is just awesome !!!

The highlight of the whole trip definitely is diving in SIPADAN…. This is my 2nd time dive in Sipadan and I’m as excited as before. However this trip is a little bit tuff due to bad weather and very choppy water that cause some of our member having bad sea sick and the visibility was also not great thanks to the weather.

As usual when you dive in Sipadan you have check with you gauge a little more and strongly suggest dive with a dive computer. Sipadan is like huge mushrooms grow out of the sea and is virtually a bottom less dive only few site you can see a sandy bottom as a result you lost your reference point on how deep you are. During the 2nd dive on Sipadan I went into decompression dive as show from my dive computer due to this I need a 12 minute safety stop instead of a usual 3minute the good news is I still have plenty of air for my stop the bad news is other that went up to the boat have to wait for me. I think some of the divers also hit decompression dive because they do not have a computer the only did 3 minute of safety stop which is not very good. Usual dive side you will dive in Sipadan is south point, barracuda point, drop off, coral garden and etc. I personally like South point and barracuda point a lot, thing to see include numbers of white tips shark, green turtle, school of Jack fish, school of resident barracuda and etc (check out my picture).

In this post I posted some of the fee I spend during my trip as a reference for anyone that is interested in Diving in Kapalai. However the fee is only for reference basis and it can varies depend on the season and also which country you from I guess……

Total Stay : 4days 3 night
Total Dive: 9 dive (can be more as house reef is unlimited)
F&B: Full board (exclude alcoholic drink)
Flight: from KUL (LCCT) terminal to Tawau (returned flight)

Total Spending: Accommodation: RM2150++,Flight: RM400 (it depend on when you book the flight, if you book earlier it will be cheaper)

Here are some picture from this dive trip.
